Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort is set across 475 acres of Lincolnshire countryside, just outside Grantham and handily placed for the A1. It's a proper all-rounder for a UK golf break, with two championship courses, a nine-hole academy layout, a floodlit 21-bay range with TrackMan and enough off-course options to keep non-golfers happy too.

The Lakes Course is the big name on site, with water hazards that make you think twice on approach. The 9th is a serious yardage test at 609 yards, and unless you absolutely leather it, it's a three-shotter for most of us. Woodside is shorter but tighter, winding through mature woodland with a par of 73 and plenty of holes where placement beats power.

When you're not playing, the Serenity Spa, pool and gym make it easy to switch gears, and the activity provider can sort archery, clay pigeon shooting and quad biking if your group needs something different. Food-wise, the Bar & Grill has the course views and terrace for the post-round debrief, while The Claret Jug is the grab-and-go option near the clubhouse.

Belton Woods is located two miles north of Grantham, around 45 minutes from East Midlands Airport and 40 minutes from Lincoln, with straightforward access from the A1.

Who is this for? Golfers and groups looking for a weekend or midweek break that combines two contrasting championship courses with quality hotel facilities, spa access and plenty of off-course activities in a rural Lincolnshire setting.

Who is it best for? Mid-to-low handicappers who want a proper test across 36 holes, societies seeking variety and strong on-site amenities and couples or families who want to mix golf with leisure, spa treatments and outdoor pursuits.

Accommodation at Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

The 136 guest rooms at Belton Woods reflect a recent £2 million refurbishment, bringing the accommodation up to the standard of the golf and leisure facilities. Classic rooms provide comfortable, well-appointed bases with modern décor and en-suite bathrooms, while the larger Ambassador rooms add golf course views and extra space for groups or longer stays. For special occasions or those wanting more room to spread out, the opulent suites feature marble bathrooms, whirlpool baths and separate living areas, offering a genuine step up in luxury. All rooms are designed with a relaxed, contemporary feel that suits the rural setting, and the hotel maintains a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere throughout.

The Belton Woods Bar & Grill is the main dining venue, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a bright, airy space that looks directly onto the golf course. The menu focuses on classic British dishes with a modern twist, and the large outdoor terrace is one of the best spots on the resort for a drink after your round, especially in summer. The Claret Jug, located near the clubhouse, handles lighter bites, mid-morning coffee and afternoon beers in a more casual setting, ideal for golfers who want to grab something quick between rounds or while watching others finish on the 18th.

Beyond golf, the leisure offering is extensive. The Serenity Spa provides a full menu of health and beauty treatments, while the leisure centre includes an indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool spa and sun beds. Active guests can use the fitness centre, tennis courts and squash courts, or book sessions with the on-site activity company for archery, clay pigeon shooting, go-karting and quad biking across the estate. The combination of two championship courses, quality accommodation, strong dining options and a wide range of leisure facilities makes Belton Woods a versatile choice for golf breaks that need to cater to mixed abilities, non-golfers or groups who want more than just 36 holes.

The accommodation was excellent. Very clean and two double beds in each twin room with a good sized bathroom is all a couple of golfers need. The food (evening meal and breakfast) was first class and the staff were very helpful.

Disappointed that the Restaurant at Belton Woods refused to give us 20% of our lunch on Sunday (despite showing them the contract that shows 20% of food & beverages) and said we should take it up with the golf shop, which we did who gave us a voucher to show at the restaurant who for the second time said it was for drinks only. The golf shop then told us that we should take it up with the Hotel Management. The Golf Shop understood our frustration and said that they would only charge us £30 for the Buggy's (which we thought was quite expensive anyway). We spoke to the Hotel Management in the evening after playing golf who gave us a card to confirm our entitlement o 20% of food, but too late for our lunch of course!!On Monday for our second round of golf the Golf Shop charged us £35 for the Buggy's with an explanation for the price increase that the greens on today's Woodside course were in better condition than Sundays Lakes Course hence the increase (no mention of the "gesture" for us not getting 20% of our lunch) Very disappointed in the Financial rip-off on a Golfers lunch and overcharges on Buggys! We are all members of a Nottinghamshire Golf Club and certainly wont be recommending Belton Woods because of this, more to be wary of overcharges!

It was meant to be a superior room but it was just the same as last year. No aircon but fine with the windows open. Needs a toilet brush in the bathroom

Hotel rooms are a little tired, in need of some updating and refurbishment but still quite comfortable. Breakfast was good , mainly buffet but some additions at extra cost. Dinner menu change every day and good choices and quality reasonable. Not a great selection of beers on draft.

The only downside of the hotel is that in March they decided to discontinue the evening carvery in favour of an A la Carte menu. The food, however, was still very good with the normal full breakfast buffet still being served

Rooms were great, most staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough, but the sports bar staff were too busy - too short-handed perhaps. Breakfast was very good and very ample. The set dinner had 4 choices for each course, but on the two nights we were there, at least one of the main courses was disappointing and the quantities insufficient. Most of my group were happy drinking lager, but I and a few others thought the choice of only 2 draught beers was very poor - disappointed not to have any hand-pulled beers in any of the bars.

Accommodation very comfortable and clean but bars and restaurant disappointing. The hotel ran out of beer over a very busy Bank Holiday weekend! On one evening the food served up bore little resemblance to the menu. e.g. steak and ale pie was substituted with a Cornish pastie! It transpired that the kitchen had not ordered enough food and they tried to palm us off with inferior substitutes with no explanation! A very poor customer relation experience which will probably mean we will not be returning to Belton Woods. The management did try to make amends the following evening but the damage had been done. A disappointing experience.

Food/only carvery available all three nights. Some staff had a don't care less attitude. (ordered a bottle of champagne in the main bar next to the restaurant & got told no full bottles of champagne available ?? went to the golf bar & they went to the cellar and got one ???) No one enjoyed the food experience (first time ever).

We had a wondeful tour with our group of 32 and could not fault it in any way. The private dining room was superb and the staff looked after us very well indeed. Everyone commented how much they'd enjoyed the quality of the meals. The golf courses were all ideal for our tour representing good challenging tests in scenic surroundings. We would highly recommend it for other groups.
