Precise Resort El Rompido

Set on Andalucía's Costa de la Luz, Precise Resort El Rompido is the kind of place you book when you want proper golf, proper sunshine and a bit of breathing space. It sits next to a working fishing village and the Marismas del Río Piedras marshlands, so you're getting nature on the doorstep rather than another stretch of high-rise hotel blocks.

Faro Airport is around an hour away by car, which makes this a straightforward hop from the UK. And while the Algarve gets the headlines, this corner of Spain is often quieter, especially if you're travelling as a couple or a small group and you'd rather swap nightlife for an evening stroll along the water.

Golf-wise, you've got two contrasting 18-hole courses on site. The North is the tighter of the pair, with more tree-lined holes where placement matters, while the South feels more open and exposed as it heads towards the estuary. If you're the type who likes a bit of variety across a long weekend, you'll get it here.

El Rompido also works well as an all inclusive option, so once you're checked in, you can genuinely switch off between rounds. If you're looking for a quieter Spanish golf resort with 5-star facilities and easy access, this one ticks a lot of boxes.

Who is this for?
Couples and small groups who want a calmer coastal base with a spa, a village within walking distance and an all-inclusive set-up that keeps budgeting simple.

Who is it best for?
Golfers who like variety across two rounds, and mid-handicappers who'll enjoy a mix of tighter driving holes and more open, wind-affected shots.

Golf Courses at Precise Resort El Rompido

South Course

In 2003, Alvaro Arana put together a beautiful course featuring pine trees and orange groves on wonderful parkland turf. Just like it's neighbour, the North Course, the nearby marshes play a prominent role in the backdrop of this course and add to the character of the track. The South course is one that rewards accurate and clever golf, thinking your way around the course and playing conservative golf will put you in good positions to make a score.

The rolling terrain has some slight but beautiful elevation changes as you move through the course. The South at El Rompido Resort reserves its most spectacular feature to the very end. The 17th and 18th tees sit on a pontoon so you can play your tee shots over the marsh and onto the fairway beyond. This course is so much fun but those final two tee shots really leave you with a great impression of the place.

North Course

The inception of the North Course in 2006 confirmed El Rompido's position as one of the region's golfing leaders, and is well worth a stop during your golf holiday in Andalucia. Not the longest in the world, however, it is a course for smart golfers rather than long-bombers and requires well thought-out golf shots to score well. Set in the middle of the Marismas del Río Piedras Nature Reserve amongst mature pine and orange groves The North is a joy to behold with plenty of nature to compliment the golf course.

Most of the front-9 of this course makes its way along the Piedra River marshlands. The feel of the land and the inevitable southern Spanish heat gives the course a feel reminiscent of Florida. As you play the more inland back nine, the course has an absolute gem awaiting you.

The 16th is one of the highlights of the round and the short par-3 is not one to take lightly. At only 136-yards, you would be forgiven for letting the beauty of the marsh in the background and the lack of distance put you off. However, you will need to keep your wits about you as the green is protected by two of golf’s most fearsome hazards…coffin bunkers.

Both the North and South Courses have their own extensive practice ranges that are designed by golf professionals to offer the best practice facilities.

The Golf School

The courses at El Rompido Resort are impressive, however, the practice facilities here are just astounding. With two comprehensive practice areas, one for each course, you can use your time at the resort to really work on your game and come home a better golfer. In fact, this is the perfect place to go for some pre-season training so you can hit the season at home running.

The facilities on the southern side have a large putting green, comprehensive short game areas and a full-length driving range to develop your long game. The northern practice complex features a shorter driving range, a wedge area for working on longer approach shots, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker. You have plenty of options to find a quiet place to develop your skills.

These courses are a joy to play and with the facilities on offer after your round, you can enjoy a great drink and a chat with your playing partner(s) as you wind down from a day of fun. The El Rompido Resort is a gem of Southern Spain and one not to miss.

Accommodation at Precise Resort El Rompido

The resort offers 184 rooms and 12 suites across the main hotel, plus 305 self-contained apartments for groups or families wanting more space and privacy. Most rooms look out over the Atlantic or the resort gardens, which are planted with native trees and shrubs to reinforce that sense of being tucked into the landscape rather than imposed on top of it. The feel throughout is refined but not overly formal, 5-star comfort delivered in a setting that prioritises natural materials and light.

Rooms are spacious and well appointed, with air conditioning, satellite television, mini-bar and private balconies or terraces as standard. Suites add separate living areas and upgraded bathrooms, while the apartments come with full kitchens, multiple bedrooms and more flexible layouts for longer stays or larger groups. The resort grounds are extensive but easy to navigate, with pathways linking the accommodation blocks to the clubhouse, spa and dining areas without feeling like a long walk.

Food & Drink

Breakfast is served buffet-style in the main restaurant and covers everything you'd expect from a quality resort, hot and cold options, fresh fruit, pastries and cooked-to-order eggs. There are two on-site restaurants for evening dining, one offering Mediterranean and Andalucían dishes, the other focusing on seafood and local produce. Both are well regarded, and the all-inclusive package covers meals and drinks across the day, including house wines, beers and spirits at the two resort bars. There's also a nightclub if you want to extend the evening, though most guests seem content with a cocktail on the terrace and an early night ahead of the next round.

Leisure Facilities

The spa is one of the resort's standout features, offering a full menu of treatments, an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and relaxation areas. It's particularly popular with couples and non-golfers, and it's large enough that you rarely feel crowded even during peak season. The outdoor pool sits in landscaped gardens with sun loungers, and there's a separate fitness studio for those who want to keep up a routine between rounds.

Beyond golf, the resort organises boat trips to nearby beaches, guided hikes through the marshlands and day trips to Huelva or Seville. The local fishing village is a five-minute walk and worth visiting for lunch or a quieter evening meal away from the resort. El Rompido works well for mixed-ability groups because there's enough to do off the course, and the all-inclusive structure means you can relax without constantly reaching for your wallet.

Precise Resort El Rompido is located within the Marismas del Río Piedras nature reserve on the Costa de la Luz. Faro Airport is approximately 60 minutes by car, Seville Airport around 75 to 90 minutes depending on traffic.

Stayed in one of the apartment and this was excellent. Food was generally good - although some of the freshly cooked meat was not good.

The bedrooms were very clean, spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was good, varied and plentiful. Both bars catered for all of our needs and twice a duo was on the Son Saura bar at night and they played well to our gallery and we had fun! All the staff in the hotel were so helpful and they all appeared to be happy in their work. We used the Spa after golf which was very therapeutic. It was extremely clean and we had to wear a hat which helps with the cleanliness.

Our second visit here, both within this year for one week. The hotel common areas are spacious, calming and elegant. The staff are all very friendly and efficient whether in the hotel or golf club. Outside areas around the pool are excellent and a small supermarket next to the apartment blocks alongside the hotel is very handy. The restaurant for buffet breakfasts and dinners is great and efficiently organised with an excellent choice and variation of food. The bars are welcoming and often lively, but never rowdy, as this hotel in the golfing season attracts cultured and well mannered individuals. We definitely will go back.

On arrival we were given the choice of up graded hotel rooms or self catering apartment across the road , which meant own ensuite rooms with kitchenette and lounge area , we chose the apartments but still had all our food in the main restaurant . The 2nd upgrade was unexpected , upgraded to semi all inclusive , FANTASTIC .

Only one concern, after first week the restaurant in the morning changed its opening times from 07:00 to 07:30, we had early tee times each day at 08:00 which meant we would be rushing our breakfast especially if we were playing the north course, after a few golfers complained the tee time was reverted back to 07:00 but the hot breakfast food weren’t available till 07:30.

The Precise Resort in El Rompido is advertised as 5 star accommodation, however, it is at best a 4 star. The staff are pleasant and the hotel is clean, but, the bedrooms and bathrooms are in need of an update. The buffet area in the dining room, for breakfast and evening meal, is inadequate for the amount of people, it has a very limited choice and frequently runs out with slow replenishment. The hotel also had an unusual policy of selling fruit at breakfast, i.e. bananas, apples, oranges etc. Several areas outside were being made ready for the ‘busy time’, ie, the decking and outside swimming pool, which we were told started in April. The indoor swimming pool incurred a cost of €3 for a ‘swimming hat and towel’. When you have already paid for the hotel, the purchase of fruit and extra charges for the pool, were slightly annoying. The weather was above average for our trip, however, there was no air conditioning, the reception staff stated that only the heating had been connected! The two golf courses were in very good condition and compliments to the green keepers.
