Golf Chateau De La Tournette

Golf Château de la Tournette is one of those places that immediately feels special. You've got a 16th-century château-style clubhouse at the centre of the estate and two quality courses laid out across rolling Belgian countryside, so it's a great shout for a golf break where the setting matters as much as the score.

Right, the golf. Both courses are more about positioning than brute force, with tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers and greens that ask you to hit the right section rather than simply find the putting surface. There's enough movement in the land to keep it interesting too, with a few elevation changes and water coming into play on selected holes. If you're the type who enjoys plotting your way round, you'll have plenty to think about.

Off the course, you're well covered. There's a pro shop for essentials, practice areas to loosen the shoulders before you head to the 1st and a clubhouse restaurant that's ideal for a relaxed post-round bite. The terrace is a favourite when the weather behaves, and it's a cracking spot to go over the day's "near-misses" with a Belgian beer.

It also works nicely for groups and society days, thanks to the facilities on site and the flexibility you usually need when you're trying to keep eight or twelve golfers moving smoothly. La Tournette's location makes it an ideal base for exploring Belgium's wider golf offering too, with several quality courses within easy reach.

Golf Courses at Golf Chateau De La Tournette

English Course

The English Course is best characterised as an inland links, with large, elevated greens which are guarded by devilish pot bunkers. Designed by Martin Hawtree, one of England's leading golf architects, the English Course stretches to 6,170 yards, and is a superb holiday course, always maintained to an excellent standard.

American Course

The American Course is arguably the more dramatic of the two at La Tournette, and differs greatly in character to its neighbour. The expansive greens features sweeping undulations, and are protected by treacherous water hazards. The opening stretch is carved through impressive woodland, requiring accurate driving, while the back nine is the highlight of the complex - the American Course has its own version of Augusta's ‘Amen Corner', where you can go from hero to zero in the blink of an eye. With two championship courses set in a charming landscape, La Tournette is a highly desirable and popular component in a golf escape to the greater Brussels area.
