Moon Palace Cancun

Moon Palace Cancun sits on Mexico's Caribbean coastline and it's built for easy, all-in-one golf breaks. As an all-inclusive resort it's a strong pick for groups who want proper golf on site but also want restaurants, bars, pools and evening entertainment without planning every last detail. You've got 27 holes of signature Jack Nicklaus golf next to a big, lively resort set-up, so it works just as well for golf-only trips as it does for mixed groups where not everyone wants to play every day.

You're also only around ten minutes from downtown Cancun, which is handy if you fancy a change of scene after dinner. On-property, complimentary shuttles make it simple to get around, whether you're heading to breakfast, the beach club vibe by the pools or the first tee.

If you're the type who likes to come home having actually improved, the Moon Palace Golf Academy offers clinics and one-to-one coaching with PGA professionals. Pair that with unlimited golf options and it's easy to rack up the rounds and plenty of practice time in between.

Who is this for? Golfers who want an all-inclusive week where you can play plenty, eat well and keep the rest of the group entertained without leaving the resort.

Who is it best for? Mixed groups and societies, mid-to-high handicappers chasing lots of rounds and anyone who wants coaching on site alongside Cancun nightlife within easy reach.

Golf Courses at Moon Palace Cancun

Moon Spa Golf Club

Carved into the indigenous flora and fauna, and through the natural wetland, the Golden Bear's creation is as beautiful as it is challenging. From the championship tee markers, the longest combination stretches to 7,165 yards, but there are tees to suit everyone, from professionals to beginners.

Risk versus reward is the theme around Moon Palace, which includes nerve-jangling tests, not least at the signature 17th; the short hole is played to an island green, so its all or nothing!

The courses are maintained in pristine condition throughout the year, which is why so many escape to Cancun for some golf in the sun.

No need for a hire car here - the air-conditioned shuttle vans will transport you from the resort to the first tee!

Moon Spa Golf Club is ranked as one of the best courses in the Caribbean

Riviera Cancun Golf Club

Considered among the most distinguished works of the legendary Golden Bear, this incredible 7060-yard layout offers extraordinary beauty and challenge for all levels of golfers. The undisturbed coastal landscape will remind players of a traditional links course, while well-protected greens, ever changing trade-winds and strategically placed bunkers combine to offer an enjoyable yet challenging test of golf.

Puerto Cancun Golf Club

Offering the perfect combination of modernism with nature, the Puerto Cancun Golf Club is surrounded by a stunning 183 acre ecological reserve, with two of the holes resting right in front of the Caribbean Sea. The Golf Club is located in the heart of Cancun and can be accessed via a 30 minute transfer north of Moon Palace.

Accommodation at Moon Palace Cancun

Moon Palace offers 2,031 rooms and suites across the resort, with views over tropical gardens or the Caribbean. Rooms are spacious and geared for comfort after a day in the heat, with a private balcony or terrace, air conditioning and a stocked mini-bar included as standard. If you like a bit of holiday luxury, the superior rooms add a double Jacuzzi bath.

You'll also find the practical essentials you'd expect at this level: Wi-Fi, a smart TV, hairdryer and straighteners, bathrobes and slippers and an in-room safe. Everything's there to make the room feel like a proper base rather than just somewhere to sleep between rounds.

Outside your room, the resort is essentially built around its pools. There are interconnected pool areas, two swim-up bars and plenty of sun terrace space, so non-golfers have more than enough to do while you're out on the course. For downtime, there's a spa and fitness centre plus tennis courts if you want to stay active.

Food and drink is a major part of the appeal. With 13 restaurants, 13 bars and an on-site nightclub, you can keep the group together or split off depending on the mood, and the all-inclusive format keeps evenings easy. Dining spans everything from buffet breakfasts to à la carte options, with Italian, Asian, Mexican and steakhouse choices all included. Popular picks include the steakhouse for a proper sit-down meal and the Mexican spot if you want something a bit more local, though the buffet is perfectly decent if you're just fuelling up before an early tee time.

Service throughout the resort is attentive without being intrusive, and the all-inclusive model means you can move freely between venues without worrying about bills or budgets. If you're travelling for work as well as play, there's also a large convention centre on site, though the layout is spacious enough that you'll rarely feel crowded even when the resort is busy.

For golfers, the real draw is the freedom to play as much as you like, with the course just a short buggy ride from your room and tee times straightforward to arrange. The shuttles run regularly, so getting from your room to the first tee or back to the pool after your round is never a hassle.

Very clean and comfortable though now becoming a little dated. Wide variety of eating places though those that had to be booked disadvantaged golfers as bookings were taken by internal phone from 10am no more than 24hours before when we were on the golf course and by the time we finished our round all places were booked. On inquiry with public relations there appeared to be no way round this. All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

This was our first visit to Mexico. We wanted a luxury winter break golfing in the sun. Thomas Holmes at 'Yourgolftravel' suggested Moon Palace, as although the golf was a big part of our trip, we also wanted relaxing 5* facilities and it was great to talk to Thomas who'd been to Moon Palace and could give us his 1st hand experience of the location before our trip. We weren't disappointed the staff at both the Moon Palace & the Riviera course (which was also included in our deal) were absolutely fantastic. In particluar the team of starters were always very helpful & the team organising the tee bookings always so friendly and flexible, helping us change tee times & even swap courses during our stay. We must also mention the bar staff in the club house as well as those providing refreshments around the course who again were also very friendly, helping to make our rounds enjoyable. Our accommodation was in Sunrise and again this was faultless, the choice of restaurants, quality of the food. space around the pool areas and the ever welcoming approach of all staff we met, made this a fantastic trip to Moon Palace Cancun. In particular we liked the fact that although quality of the whole complex was 5*+ there was still a 'laid back' relaxed approach to everything. It is definitely going to be the 1st of many trips!
