Regnum Carya

Set on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, Regnum Carya is one of the standout five-star golf resorts in Belek, with the beach on one side and the championship Carya Golf Club on the other. You're less than 30 minutes from Antalya Airport, with the hotel sitting neatly between the first tee and a private stretch of white sand.

The headline, of course, is the golf. Carya is a heathland-style layout that feels refreshingly different to many resort tracks in the region and it hosted the Turkish Airlines Open in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Add in full-course floodlighting for evening tee times and it's one of the most flexible golf options you'll find in Turkey.

Off the course, it's an all-inclusive setup with a big choice of bars and restaurants, pools and a quality spa for post-round recovery. The overall feel is high-end without being stuffy, which is exactly what most couples and golf groups want when they're travelling with mixed handicaps and mixed agendas. There's plenty going on if you want it, tennis courts, fitness facilities and beach access, but the resort understands the rhythm of a golf-focused stay and makes the logistics easy.

Who is this for?

Golfers or groups seeking a high-end, all-inclusive break that pairs a genuine championship test with beach access, extensive dining choice and year-round sunshine. Ideal for couples, societies and anyone who wants European Tour conditions without the hassle of organising tee times, meals or transfers separately.

Who is it best for?

Mid-to-low handicappers who want to play a course that has tested the world's best, plus anyone who values variety off the course, from spa treatments and tennis to night golf under lights. Families and mixed-ability groups will appreciate the five tee options per hole and the sheer range of on-site activities.

Carya Golf Club

Created by the design firm of five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson, Carya Golf Club is the only heathland-style course in Belek and one of the most talked-about layouts in the region. The par-72 championship test stretches to 7,186 yards from the tips, with extensive bunkering, heather-framed hazards and towering umbrella pines that frame fairways and demand accuracy off the tee. If you've played the classic Surrey heathlands, Sunningdale or Walton Heath, you'll recognise the aesthetic, but the climate and conditioning are pure Mediterranean.

Five sets of tees per hole make Carya playable for all abilities, but from the back markers this is a serious examination. The layout rewards strategy over power, with doglegs that tempt the aggressive line and approach shots that need to be flighted into multi-tiered greens. Opened in November 2008, Carya quickly earned its reputation and hosted the Turkish Airlines Open three times, most recently in 2018. Thorbjørn Olesen won the 2016 edition at 20 under par, and the tournament's signature moment came at the par-three 16th, where the tee box was built on a rooftop villa, offering players and spectators a unique vantage point over the green below.

Carya is also Europe's first and only 18-hole floodlit golf course. All 18 holes are lit for evening play, so you can genuinely tee off late and still see the ball properly. It's a genuine point of difference and adds flexibility for groups who want to maximise their time on course or simply experience something they won't find anywhere else in Europe.

Accommodation at Regnum Carya

Regnum Carya has 612 rooms, suites and golf villas, so it works for everything from couples' long weekends to full society trips. Rooms are contemporary, bright and genuinely spacious, with enough storage for golf bags and the usual holiday unpacking. Many rooms look over the course or out towards the Med, and the standard spec is proper five-star: king-size beds, separate dressing area, LED TV, pillow menu, tea and coffee facilities and a private balcony or terrace.

Dining is genuinely varied and it's all-inclusive, so you can move between venues without watching the bill. In winter there are seven restaurants and 10 bars, rising to 11 restaurants and 17 bars in summer. The lineup includes regional Italian, traditional Turkish grill and kebab, contemporary Japanese with a sushi bar, teppanyaki cooked fresh in front of you, modern Thai, grilled fish with mezze, Brazilian rodizio-style churrascaria, Peruvian and Nikkei cuisine, fusion Mediterranean and premium dry-aged cuts. Some items, such as shellfish and caviar, are available at a supplement, but the core offering is broad enough that even a week-long stay won't feel repetitive.

Sport and leisure facilities are extensive. Six tennis courts, four clay and two hard, a well-equipped fitness centre, indoor and outdoor pools heated in winter, weather depending, and easy access to the beach. The Green Door Spa & Wellness includes a Turkish bath, steam room and sauna, with massages and treatments available if you want to loosen up after 18. For golfers, the real draw is proximity. You're steps from the first tee at Carya, and the resort understands the rhythm of a golf-focused stay, from early breakfast to post-round recovery.
