Disappointing . Very crowded with conference/ get together for camp organisers. Room overlooked two roof tops and top of a tree. Dining room lacking in atmosphere, but understand new owners are trying to update. Breakfast was so crowded and not enough staff. The building itself is lovely and the entrance hall and staircase elegant. Overall we were very disappointed.

Rooms ok but could really do with some TLC. Staff friendly and helpful. Could really do with a pool or snooker table plus televisions to watch the footie. Would return to play the course but not to stay overnight

problems started on arrival with large queues waiting to book in made worse with only 1 person plus a trainee on the desk also men working on electrics ect behind desk the room 4x4 metrs no cupboards or drawers small metal frame to hang clothes 1 small chair bad smell from bathroom these rooms are only fit for single occupancy large dogs locked in rooms barking for hours food very poor breakfasts cold even when first out room cleaners arrive to service at 5.30 as you are preparing to dress for dinner this hotel is very short of staff with no senior in attendance i could go on but this hotel would be shamed by a travelodge faulty towers comes to mind we shall not return

this venue is our annual boys weekend away, would not go anywhere else, staff, facilities hotel are brilliant, great service and great food.

The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings. We got a great room with private dressing room, so it was almost a suite. Staff were all freindly and helpful. The food was good quality with good choice at both evening meal and breakfast. Would recommend for a golf break.

Very impressive hotel. Rooms were quite small but acceptable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Golf course was excellent and very challenging. Every hole was different. Take lots of balls as the heavy rough is unforgiving

We cannot praise the staff enough, at all levels they were brilliant. The rooms were superb, we especially liked the bedside lights. We will definitely stay here again, loved it.

Great venue. Wonderful building in country location. Staff very helpful, excellent food and service, clean, comfortable room and good bars. The hotel is spread out and does require good navigational skills but this was not a problem. Would recommend and return.

My room was tired and in need of refitting and decorating.Our booking was made for twin rooms but we were booked in doubles. I had given a list of guests to YGT so it would be sorted when we arrived. Having to ask for discount every time we used the bar is crazy, a card should be issued to all golfing guests to show at the bar. The discount we thought we were getting was not deducted unless we asked for it every time. Many of us did not get it until the second night. Very poor attention to our rights. However the food was good and plentiful although it could be hotter and the course was terrific. Overall we had a great few days Thank you.

The hotel is set within beautiful surroundings, and although we stayed during a busy time (Masters weekend) the vastness meant that we never felt on top of other people. Although the room we stayed in was slightly dated, all the amenities are very good. It appeared that some rooms were going through an upgrade so I hope this continues throughout the hotel. Overall the hotel was well equipped, the staff very helpful and friendly, and the food was also very good.

Lovely venue with bags of history and great location with striking views towards Manchester and surrounding area. The accommodation is spread over three adjoining wings so a lot of walking back and forward to the facilities if you happen to be in the third wing. Our room was very spacious and new though in the attic space and not sure I'd like it in a hot summer. Great views however. No storage space which was a little weird so all our clothes had to stay in the suitcases. Restaurant very good, let down a little bu an almost identical menu on both the two nights we stayed and the choice was limited. We both made one wrong choice of food. The food was well presented and the staff really good. It's a very popular wedding venue which can be both nice and tiresome.

The hotel looks and feels tired, the lock on the room door constantly had an alarm going off every time we left the room ( faulty door handle), the room was a double but felt quite basic. The spa was a disappointment for a number of reasons, firstly the changing rooms were been refurbished so you had to change in bedroom 101 then walk quite a long distance in your swimming trunks to the spa, no dressing gowns were available in the changing rooms , there was no way of locking the lockers so I had to leave my clothes in an unlocked locker, I had to take valuables with me to the pool, the steam room was faulty, I eventually found a member of staff to report it to who told me he knew and someone had been called out, so it was just a case of sauna and pool.The golf course was ok, semi rough was a little long and needed cutting as it was easy to lose a ball only a couple of feet off the fairway, we paid for a buggy which ran out of battery after 9 holes, we changed it but it added 15 mins to our round.The evening dinner was superb although the staff seemed a little lost if not slow, we had to repeatedly ask where drinks we had ordered were, the manager became aware and did in fairness knock one round off our bill.
