Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort

Set on the shores of Blessington Lakes with the Wicklow Mountains as your backdrop, Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort is an easy win if you want a quality Ireland golf break without trekking across the country. You're around 40 minutes from Dublin city, so it works nicely for a quick two-night dash or a long weekend with two or three rounds. The location gives you proper mountain and lake scenery without the isolation, you're close enough to the capital for an easy airport run or a night out if you fancy mixing golf with a bit of city time.

There has been a sizeable investment in the resort recently, including a new spa and a full refresh of the 18th-century manor house. The end result feels smarter and more contemporary, but it still suits a golf trip, plenty of space, a relaxed atmosphere and the sort of service that keeps groups happy. The refurbishment has brought the historic building up to modern resort standards without losing the character that makes it feel like more than just another hotel.

The real pull, though, is having everything on site. Golf, food, beds and a wind-down option afterwards means you're not organising taxis or hunting for dinner every night. If you're travelling with a non-golfer, the lakeside setting and spa give them something to do while you're out chasing a score. It's a straightforward one-site set-up that works well for societies, fourballs or couples looking to pair golf with some downtime.

Who is this for?
Golfers or groups looking for a quality Irish golf break within easy reach of Dublin, combining a championship-standard course with resort facilities, spa access and mountain scenery. Works well for two to three-night breaks, societies seeking a single-site base, and couples pairing golf with dining and relaxation.

Who is it best for?
Mid-to-low handicappers who want a proper test on a tour-standard layout, couples looking to balance golf with spa and quality dining, and societies or groups wanting strong accommodation with everything close at hand. Also suits anyone flying into Dublin who wants a scenic base without a long transfer.

Tulfarris Golf Course

Tulfarris Golf Club is surrounded by 200 acres of beautiful woodland, overlooking Blessington Lakes and the stunning Wicklow Mountains. The course is recognised as one of Ireland’s top courses, having hosted the European Tour, Irish Seniors Open Championship and Club Professional PGA Championship.

Set across three peninsulas on Blessington Lakes, renowned course architect Patrick J. Merrigan has created a stunning 18-hole championship golf course paradise at Tulfarris.

Accommodation at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort

The resort's 92 rooms have been refurbished with a fresh, modern finish that suits golfers who want comfort and space after a day on the course. Room choices include king, deluxe double, twin and triple options, which is handy if you're putting together a fourball trip or a society stay. Some rooms come with balconies or patios overlooking the course and countryside, which is well worth requesting if you like a quiet post-round beer with a view. The layout and finish are geared towards golfers who want space to unpack, unwind and actually enjoy their accommodation rather than just sleep in it.

Service is geared towards golfers, early starts, flexible dining and a comfortable base to come back to after 18 holes. If you're travelling as a group, it's a straightforward one-site set-up with everything close at hand. The refurbishment has lifted the standard across the board, from the rooms themselves to the public areas and the overall feel of the place. It's not trying to be a five-star country house, but it's a well-run resort that knows its audience and delivers what golf groups actually need.

Dining is split between two venues, each with its own style. The Fairways Restaurant takes the gourmet route, serving up refined dishes that lean on local and seasonal ingredients, ideal for a celebratory dinner or a slower-paced evening meal. The Brasserie Bar offers something heartier and more relaxed, perfect for post-round pints and plates that don't require a dress code. Both options work well for golf groups, one a bit smarter, one more casual, so you've got flexibility depending on the mood of the trip.

The new spa is a standout addition, giving the resort a genuine edge for couples or anyone who fancies balancing their golf with some downtime. After a round on Merrigan's layout, especially if the Wicklow wind has been up, a treatment or a session in the spa facilities is exactly what the physio ordered. It's also a strong selling point if you're travelling with a non-golfer, they'll have plenty to keep them occupied while you're out on the course. The spa rounds out the resort offer nicely, turning Tulfarris into more than just a place to play golf and sleep.

Between the refurbished manor house, the two dining options, the spa and the championship golf on your doorstep, Tulfarris has built itself into a well-rounded option for Ireland golf breaks. You're not just booking a bed near a course, you're getting a full resort experience in one of Ireland's most scenic corners, all within a 40-minute drive of Dublin city.
