Wyboston Lakes

Set across 380 acres of Bedfordshire countryside, Wyboston Lakes Resort is a handy UK golf break for groups who want parkland golf, on-site facilities and an easy run from the A1. The course follows the Great River Ouse, with lakes and water hazards featuring often enough to make you think twice on a few approaches. If you're anything like me, you'll enjoy the way the water sits in your eye on a few tee shots. It's not unfair, but you do need to pick a line and commit. The round itself is scenic too, with plenty of river and lakeside views that make it feel a world away from the motorway.

Location-wise, you're just outside St Neots and within straightforward reach of London, which makes it popular for weekend society trips and quick getaways. With 416 rooms split across two accommodation styles, plus dining, a health club and a TrackMan range, it's set up to handle everything from small groups to bigger golf parties without overcomplicating the logistics. It's not trying to be flashy, but it nails the basics: good golf, comfortable rooms and plenty to do once you've signed the card.

Beyond golf, you'll find The Gravel Pit Brasserie & Bar, a TrackMan driving range for pre-round warm-ups and the Y Spa for anyone keen to unwind after 36 holes. The setup is practical rather than showy, but it covers what matters for a proper golf break.

Who is this for?

Golfers looking for a parkland course with water in play, comfortable accommodation and easy access from London and the Midlands. Ideal for societies, weekend breaks and groups wanting a relaxed base with leisure facilities on-site.

Who is it best for?

Mid-handicap golfers and societies who want a scenic, well-maintained parkland course without the pressure of a championship test. Also suits groups mixing golf with spa time, or anyone after a straightforward break close to the A1 corridor and a good base for exploring Bedfordshire golf.

Wyboston Lakes Golf Club

The par 70 Wyboston Lakes golf course is laid out along the banks of the The Great River Ouse, and is a varied challenge for golfers of all abilities. Water hazards are among the tests that are to be negotiated around the course, which stretches to 6,000 yards.

A total of 8 holes at this Bedforshire golf course have a water hazard close by but it is the 3rd, 5th and 7th that are the most memorable and entertaining. These short par 3 holes demand accurate approach shots to find greens that are surrounded by water.

A challenging course feature is the wind coming off the multiple lakes which can make the course play longer than the suggested yardage. Playing Wyboston Lakes Golf Club is certainly enjoyable and the course is perfectly equipped to ensure a fantastic golf break.

Accommodation at Wyboston Lakes

Wyboston Lakes offers two distinct accommodation options, each designed to suit different group styles and budgets. Both sit on the same resort, so you'll have access to the golf course, leisure facilities and dining regardless of where you stay.

Drift Inn is the contemporary choice, built for golfers who want a bit more comfort and style after a day on the course. Rooms come in two formats: Drift Classic and Drift Classic Plus, both fitted with en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, fast Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities. The design is modern and unfussy, giving you a proper retreat without unnecessary extras.

The real draw here is The Gravel Pit Café-Bar, which overlooks East Lake and the 18th green. It's the perfect spot to settle in after your round, with a menu that leans into golfer favourites: stacked burgers, crispy wings, stone-baked pizzas and fresh salads. The atmosphere is relaxed, the views are excellent and the food does exactly what it needs to. Off the course, Drift Inn keeps the competition going. Challenge your group to darts or shuffleboard, catch live sport on Sky Sports or head to The Bunker, a dedicated chill-out zone with PS5s and lounge seating. It's a sociable setup that suits groups who want a bit of post-round banter without having to leave the resort.

The Willows Training Centre is the value option, offering 193 en-suite standard rooms with free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee and all the essentials you'd expect. The rooms are straightforward and functional, ideal for societies or groups prioritising golf over luxury.

Dining at The Willows is handled by The Cricket Kitchen, which serves a two-course street food menu featuring burgers, hot dogs and pizzas. The food is quick, filling and designed to fuel another round. The Cricket Kitchen also houses a sports bar with pool tables and PS5s, plus access to Sky Sports and TNT Sports across multiple screens. For more downtime, head to The Loft, a games room stocked with dartboards, foosball, shuffleboard and more PS5s. It's a solid setup for keeping a group entertained between rounds or after dinner.

A fun extra you can add to your package is a session at the on-site Aqua Park at Ride Leisure. The park features trampolines, huge slides, balance beams, a 7-metre swing, climbing wall and a 40-foot ball game arena. It's a good addition if you're travelling with mixed-ability groups or anyone looking for something beyond golf.

For parties of more than 10, pre-orders are required for the set menus at both Drift Inn and The Willows.

Both accommodation options give you access to the Y Spa, which features an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam rooms, mist showers and eleven therapy rooms. The spa isn't included in standard packages but can be added on, and booking ahead is recommended if you want to secure treatments. Free access to the 1Life Leisure Club gym is included for all guests.

Wyboston Lakes sits 10 miles north-east of Bedford, just off the A1, and four miles from St Neots train station. The address is Great North Road, Wyboston, Bedfordshire, MK44 3AL.

The staff couldn’t of been more helpful!!! We had a large party of 5 couples staying, 5 guys for the golf and 5 ladies for the spa - the reception ladies were incredibly helpful, from suggesting walks around the lake to getting us all checked in. Unfortunately the pool was out of order due to maintenance but when we queried this they offered to give us £10 each credit for the bar - this was brilliant for us and we were more than happy with the £100 we could collectively spend at the bar!!! The bar staff were also brilliant and nothing was too much trouble - couldn’t recommend enough, lovely hotel in a lovely setting with lovely staff - will definitely be going back!!!

the golf course and accommodation was really great but the service in the bar and restaurant was very poor. The food was not very nice it was over cooked and very bland and i complained on the saturday and refused to pay the meal supplements. Obviously the kitchen cannot cope with large groups. Breakfast was cold on the first day but better on the second day.
