Conrad Algarve

Set right in the Golden Triangle, Conrad Algarve is a smart pick if your main goal is to play Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo without spending half your holiday in a transfer. You're roughly 20 minutes from Faro Airport, close enough to dip into Vilamoura for a lively dinner, but far enough out to feel like a proper five-star retreat when you're back at the hotel.

For golfers, the location is the headline. Quinta do Lago's three courses and Vale do Lobo's two layouts are a short drive away, so you can mix and match tee times across the week without any faff. San Lorenzo is nearby too if you want to add another top-tier round to the itinerary. If you've got a group with mixed tastes, it works as a base, with beach time, spa time and decent dining all on tap.

I'll be honest, this is the sort of place that makes a golf trip feel like a holiday, not just a string of tee times. You can get your round in, come back for a proper unwind, then head out again in the evening if you fancy it. The hotel operates a shuttle to the Quinta do Lago area and beach on set schedules, which is handy if you'd rather not deal with parking, especially during peak season when the Golden Triangle gets busy.

Beyond the golf, the property offers a full resort experience. An outdoor pool that's large enough to feel like a proper feature rather than an afterthought, a tennis court if you want a break from the fairways, and a spa that's genuinely worth using after 18 holes in the Algarve sun, especially if you've played a couple of days on the bounce. The fitness centre is well equipped, and the central location means you're never far from the action, whether that's teeing off at Quinta do Lago or heading into Vilamoura for dinner.

Who is this for?

Golf groups who want Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo on the doorstep, plus couples or families who'll actually use the spa, pool and restaurants.

Who is it best for?

Anyone building a proper Algarve week: play great courses, eat well, recover properly, repeat, with easy nights out in Vilamoura when you fancy it.

Accommodation at Conrad Algarve

Rooms and suites are modern and spacious, with air conditioning, a 42-inch TV and reliable Wi-Fi as standard. If you're travelling as a pair or on a golf lads' trip where the room is mainly for sleeping and showering, the entry-level Deluxe Guestrooms still feel properly upmarket and cover the basics without any compromise.

Step up to the suites if you want more space to spread out between rounds, especially for longer stays or small groups. Some higher categories add extras like roof access and in-room wellness features, worth double-checking what's included in your exact room type, plus the Conrad Butler service if you want that extra bit of organisation on the ground. The suites are varied enough to suit different group sizes and budgets, with significantly more space, better views and a level of service that matches the price point.

The top-end option, the King Roof Garden Suite, is the 'push the boat out' choice. Private outdoor space, standout views and those added touches that make the whole trip feel a bit more special, particularly if you're celebrating or travelling with a couple who aren't golfing every day. Private parking, exclusive roof garden access, a private sauna and steam bath, and a fully equipped kitchen all come as part of the package, so it's the sort of room that turns a golf trip into something more memorable.

Dining at the Conrad Algarve is handled by a collection of restaurants and bars that cover everything from casual poolside snacks to fine dining. Louro covers Mediterranean classics, while Gusto is the headline booking, overseen by Heinz Beck, a three-Michelin-starred chef. Menus can change seasonally, but expect polished fine dining that's a good shout for a 'big night' during the trip. For something more relaxed, Dado and Sereno by the pool offer cocktails, fresh fruit and artisan ice creams, ideal for a post-round drink in the sun.

The hotel's facilities are geared towards golfers who want more than just a bed and a tee time. The spa is a genuine highlight, offering treatments designed to ease tired legs and shoulders after a long day on hilly courses like Quinta do Lago. The outdoor pool is large enough to feel like a proper resort feature, and the tennis court provides an alternative if you fancy a break from golf. The shuttle service to the Quinta do Lago area and courses is a practical touch, saving you the hassle of driving, though it's worth confirming timings in peak season.

For golfers planning a trip to the Algarve, the Conrad Algarve sits in the sweet spot between access, quality and facilities. It's close enough to the region's best courses to make multiple rounds easy, but far enough from the busiest parts of Vilamoura to feel like a proper resort rather than a town-centre hotel. The combination of fine dining, a strong spa and quick access to Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo makes it a solid choice for anyone who wants their golf trip to feel like a proper holiday rather than just a series of tee times.

Again we were put in a very dark room stuck in a corner. Luckily as we had stayed in the hotel many times before, they found us a lovely room with a pool view. I thought you guys had some sway with these hotels , obviously not. !!!
