Conrad Algarve

Conrad Algarve is a five-star, design-led base in Quinta do Lago that works brilliantly for golfers who want variety. There's no course on site, but that's actually the appeal. You can build a trip around the Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo heavy-hitters, then hop further afield across the Algarve without feeling tied to one resort.

You're well placed for an easy arrival too, with Faro Airport a short drive away, plus Vilamoura's marina bars and nightlife within reach when the day's golf is done. Beaches are close as well, with the hotel running a shuttle so you can swap spikes for flip-flops without any faff.

If you're travelling as a mixed group, this is the sort of hotel that keeps everyone happy. The golfers get quick access to championship golf, while non-golfers (or anyone nursing a sore back after 36 holes) get a proper spa and pool scene. I'd put it in the "luxury between rounds" category rather than "golf resort compound", which, in my opinion, is exactly what a lot of Algarve trips need.

The location is one of the Algarve's best clusters of championship golf. You're handy for Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, with plenty more courses within an easy drive. The three Quinta do Lago layouts (North, South and Laranjal) are all within a few minutes, as are the two Vale do Lobo courses (Royal and Ocean). Beyond that, you've got San Lorenzo, Pinheiros Altos, Vilamoura's five courses and Monte Rei all within comfortable reach. It's the sort of base that lets you tick off the big names without repeating a course all week.

Vilamoura's marina and nightlife are an easy taxi ride away, so if you want dinner somewhere other than the hotel or a few drinks after a long day on the fairways, you've got options. The shuttle service to the beach and to Quinta do Lago's courses is a thoughtful touch that removes the hassle of hire cars and parking while keeping you mobile across the region.

Who is this for? Golfers who want a high-end hotel base with easy access to multiple top courses.

Who is it best for? Couples mixing golf and spa time, plus groups who want golf by day and Vilamoura by night.

Accommodation at Conrad Algarve

Rooms and suites at Conrad Algarve are modern, spacious and light, with a clean look that suits a golf break because it feels calm rather than 'theme resort'. Entry-level rooms still cover the basics properly: air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi and a large flat-screen TV with on-demand entertainment. The layout is sensible, with enough space to unpack properly and store clubs without tripping over them every time you walk to the bathroom.

If you're staying a bit longer, or travelling as a small group, it's worth looking at the suite categories. The top-end options lean more "private residence" than standard hotel, with extra space to spread out and proper downtime built in. The King Roof Garden Suite is the headline act, with features such as private parking, access to a roof garden area, a private sauna and steam bath, plus a fully equipped kitchen. You also get Conrad's butler service, which is ideal if you want dinner reservations sorted, transfers arranged and the whole trip to run smoothly without anyone playing organiser.

Practical note for golfers: storage space and comfort matter when you're living out of a suitcase and rotating polos all week. These rooms are set up for that, and the overall feel is geared towards a quality night's sleep between early tee times. The suites in particular work well for longer stays or for groups who want to share accommodation without feeling cramped. You get the autonomy of a self-catering setup with the service of a five-star hotel, which is a rare combination and one that makes a difference when you're managing multiple rounds across different courses.

The butler service isn't just a gimmick either. If you need clubs cleaned, shoes dried, tee times confirmed or a taxi booked for Vilamoura, it's all handled without you having to chase reception. For groups, that level of support can be the difference between a smooth trip and one where someone is constantly on the phone sorting logistics.

Dining at the Conrad is taken seriously. Louro handles Mediterranean classics with a focus on fresh, regional ingredients, and it's the sort of menu that works well for breakfast before an early round or a relaxed evening meal when you don't want anything too heavy. The setting is bright and comfortable, and the service is efficient without being rushed.

Gusto by Heinz Beck focuses on premium steak and seafood, with a lot of the cooking done over open flame. The wine list is deep, the execution is polished and the atmosphere is refined without being stiff. It's the kind of place you'd book for a group celebration or a final-night dinner when you want something a bit special. Worth noting that it's popular, so if you're planning to eat there, book ahead.

For something more relaxed, Dado and Sereno operate poolside, serving cocktails, seasonal fruit and artisan ice cream throughout the day. It's ideal for post-round decompression or simply killing time between tee times. The vibe is casual, the drinks are well made and it's a good spot to sit in the sun with a cold beer after walking 18 holes in the heat.

Beyond the rooms and restaurants, the Conrad offers a full suite of facilities designed for active relaxation. The outdoor pool is large, well positioned and typically calm compared with larger golf resorts. There's a floodlit tennis court for those who still have energy after 18 holes, and a fully equipped fitness centre for anyone committed to their pre-round routine.

The spa is the real highlight, a sprawling, serene space offering everything from deep-tissue sports massage to full-day wellness programmes. If you've walked 36 holes across Quinta do Lago's undulating fairways, this is where you'll want to spend your evening. The treatment menu is extensive, the therapists know what they're doing and the facilities (sauna, steam room, relaxation areas) are all first-rate. It's the sort of spa that justifies a rest day mid-trip, particularly if you're playing five or six rounds in a week.

The hotel also runs a complimentary shuttle to the beach and to Quinta do Lago's courses, which is a practical touch that makes multi-course itineraries far easier to manage. You don't need to worry about hire cars, parking or navigating unfamiliar roads, and it means you can have a drink at lunch without thinking about who's driving back.

Include Conrad Algarve on your next Algarve Golf Holiday, and we'll pair it with Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and the best tee times for your dates.

Again we were put in a very dark room stuck in a corner. Luckily as we had stayed in the hotel many times before, they found us a lovely room with a pool view. I thought you guys had some sway with these hotels , obviously not. !!!
