When Emirates Golf Club opened in 1988 it became the first all-grass championship course in the Gulf, quickly earning the nickname 'the desert miracle'. These days, with Dubai firmly established as a top winter-sun golf destination, Emirates still feels like the city's headline venue, with two championship courses plus a handy 9-hole par 3.
The star of the show is the Majlis, the headline act in the UAE and a proper bucket-list backdrop with the skyline sitting right there behind you. It's also the long-time home of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, one of the biggest weeks on the European Tour calendar. Tiger, McIlroy and Seve have all won here, which tells you everything you need to know about the calibre of the test. Our Chief Holiday Officer, Lee Westwood, has teed it up here plenty over the years too.
If you fancy a change of pace, the Faldo Course (designed by Sir Nick Faldo) asks different questions off the tee and rewards sensible course management as much as raw distance. And if time is tight, the par-3 is ideal for a warm-up, a quick knock, or getting everyone in the group swinging before the main event.
