Golf Las Americas is right on the doorstep of Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos, so it's an easy choice if you want a quality round without trekking across the island. It's a proper resort-course look, with bright green fairways running through pockets of woodland and Tenerife's volcanic mountains sitting in the background. If you're anything like me, you'll end up taking a couple of extra photos between shots.
It has welcomed top-level tournament golf too, including a Ladies European Tour event in Tenerife, with names such as Dame Laura Davies, Trish Johnson and Nikki Garrett on the tee. That's a handy marker of the course's reputation and the standards you can expect on the day.
In play, Las Americas asks you to think your way round rather than simply lash driver everywhere. Keep it straight, pick your moments and it's very enjoyable, but there's still enough going on to keep better players interested. With year-round sunshine (especially compared with a British winter) and a lively south-coast base on the doorstep, it's a strong all-rounder for a Tenerife golf holiday.
Who is this for? Golfers staying in the main southern resorts who want a reliable, well-kept round close to the hotel.
Who is it best for? Players who like scenic golf and a slightly strategic test that you'd happily play twice in the same trip.
