Galgorm Resort

Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort sits within 400 acres of lush parkland in County Antrim, with the River Maine flowing through the estate. Just 30 minutes from Belfast, this is Northern Ireland's premier luxury hotel and spa, combining championship golf with five-star hospitality in a setting that feels both grand and genuinely welcoming.

The location is perfect for exploring the region's world-class golf. You're close to both Belfast airports and the stunning North Antrim Coast, with easy access to the famous links of Royal Portrush, host of the 148th Open Championship. On-site, Galgorm Castle Golf Club is one of Ireland's finest championship parklands and most recognised tournament venues. It remains the only parkland course in Northern Ireland to have hosted the Irish Open on the DP World Tour and is the perennial home of the Northern Ireland Open and the ISPS Handa World Invitational, a tri-sanctioned DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour event.

Beyond golf, the estate offers fishing on the River Maine, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and the famed Thermal Spa Village, the first of its kind in Ireland. It's a proper resort experience, built around serious golf but with enough variety to keep everyone happy.

For anyone building a Northern Ireland itinerary, Galgorm works nicely as a central hub. You can play the on-site parkland course on arrival day, then push up the coast for links golf without changing hotels every night. And if the weather does what it often does on the North Coast, having the spa and multiple dining options back at base is a handy safety net. Right, if you're after a base that lets you mix a proper championship parkland test with a spa that actually delivers, Galgorm makes a lot of sense.

Who is this for? Golfers and groups who want a luxury base for exploring Northern Ireland's championship courses, with the convenience of a quality parkland test on-site and a full resort wrapped around it.

Who is it best for? Couples and mixed groups looking to combine serious golf with spa, dining and countryside relaxation, plus anyone planning a multi-course trip along the North Coast who wants a comfortable, central base with excellent facilities.

Galgorm Castle Golf club

Galgorm Castle Golf Club is nestled in the heart of the 220-acre historic Galgorm Castle Estate, providing a mature, parkland setting that promotes an easy, relaxing rhythm. The course demands control of every facet of your game, with tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering and water hazards that come into play on several holes.

A variety of teeing areas provide an exciting and enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities. The layout is fair but testing, rewarding accuracy and course management over pure length. It's the kind of parkland course that gets better the more you play it, with subtle breaks on the greens and risk-reward options that make you think about club selection and strategy.

I'm a sucker for a good parkland track when it's presented like this, especially when you're balancing it against the North Coast links on the same trip. The central location and tournament pedigree make this a must-visit for any golfers planning a trip to Northern Ireland. It's a fantastic addition to the Northern Irish golfing landscape, offering a completely different test to the famous links of the North Coast while maintaining the same high standards of conditioning and presentation.

Accommodation at Galgorm Resort

Choice is the key at Galgorm. The resort offers 125 guestrooms plus a range of log cabins, cottage suites, Shepherds Huts and Residencies set in the grounds, giving you options whether you're after a classic hotel room or something more private and secluded. The log cabins and cottage suites are particularly popular with groups and families, offering self-contained space with views over the estate, while the Shepherds Huts provide a quirky, romantic option for couples.

Rooms and lodges are modern, comfortable and well set up for golf breaks, with plenty of space to get organised between rounds and easy access to the resort's restaurants and spa. The guestrooms in the main hotel offer the most convenient access to dining and the Thermal Spa Village, while the cabins and cottages give you a bit more independence if you prefer your own space.

The Thermal Spa Village is a genuine highlight and a big reason golfers bring partners or book mixed-group trips here. It features wet and dry treatment rooms, thermal suites, a hydro pool and outdoor hot tubs, all designed to help you unwind after 36 holes or a day exploring the North Coast links. It's a seriously impressive facility and one of the main draws beyond the golf itself.

Dining is equally well covered, with four restaurants and bars to choose from. Castle Kitchen + Bar is perfectly suited for golfers, offering views of the fairways and countryside while you graze on quality food and drinks in a relaxed setting. The warm welcome is only matched by the outstanding menu, with everything from light bites to hearty mains.

You've got four options on site, from relaxed post-round food at Castle Kitchen + Bar to steaks by the fire in Gillies Grill, Italian favourites at Fratelli and a smarter night out in the River Room with local produce and a strong wine list. The variety means you can eat well every night without leaving the resort, and the quality across all four venues is consistently strong. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and genuinely enjoy the off-course experience as much as the golf.
